Home Phone Tunes Launches Ringboxx, the First Device to Offer Ringtones for Wired Phones
Personalize Home Phones and Identify Callers With Thousands of Ringtones
Portland, Oregon, June 18, 2007
At the NXTcomm07 conference, Home Phone Tunes introduced Ringboxx, the first product to give people a simple and entertaining way to personalize home phones with music and exclusive audio content. Ringboxx allows people to identify callers instantly, even when they are not near their phones, by using the ringtones they assign to friends, family or even unwanted 800 numbers. Just as ringtones are now a popular way to personalize mobile phones, the Ringboxx can transform a standard home phone by reflecting its owner’s personality.
Consumers can now pre-order Home Phone Tunes’ Ringboxx from www.homephonetunes.com. In June, Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer will also begin taking orders for Ringboxx. In select markets, consumers can also obtain a unit through a growing number of local phone companies. The suggested retail price for the Ringboxx is $79.95. Participating local telecommunications providers may offer it to subscribers for a small monthly fee or as part of a package of services. Special offers such as free ringtone credits will be available for a limited time.
"Ringtones have been immensely popular for mobile phones, and Ringboxx is the first product to bring that functionality to the home phone," said Kirk Cameron, Home Phone Tunes CEO. "For more than a century, we’ve heard that ‘ma bell’ ring. Today people can choose to play an entertaining selection of ringtones or personalize ringtones to identify who’s calling. There is no reason to dash to the phone to answer a call that you are not interested in receiving."
Ringboxx connects to any home phone jack and is compatible with all standard landline phones. By using the Ringboxx software compatible with most PCs, Ringboxx owners can browse and purchase thousands of ringtones, ranging from popular music tracks to comedy clips. Users subscribing to Caller ID service available from their phone provider, can easily program Ringboxx ringtones to specific incoming numbers. For those who don’t have Caller ID, customers can set the Ringboxx to an "All Play" mode. This allows Ringboxx to sequentially play through purchased ringtones in the library.
Home Phone Tunes’ content providers include The Orchard, the global leader of digital media services. In the near future, original sport, collegiate and leading music entities providing audio for the Ringboxx will be announced.
Rainier Connect, a family-owned and operated telecommunications company based in Eatonville, Washington, will offer the Ringboxx to its customers. "We are excited to offer the Ringboxx to our customers at our annual fair," says Debbie Reding, Network Operations and Marketing Manager of Rainier Connect. "We are always looking for new and innovative products that add convenience and enjoyment to the home. Ringboxx is a unique product that will help us retain existing customers and attract new customers to our services as well."
During the trial period with telecommunications companies, consumer feedback was consistent and positive; the Ringboxx was easy to install, fun to use and changed the way they answered their phone. One woman raved about how she was sitting on the kitchen floor cleaning out her refrigerator and the phone kept ringing, but she knew not to get up and answer it because of the ringtones. When her best friend called, she decided to take a break and answer the phone.
